OK...Here's the deal so far with the different zip files. The DOS version of FFZ (ffz-a1.zip) is equavilent to FFZ Alpha 2 (DirectX version) (ffzdx-a2.zip). ffz-a1.zip - Since this is a DOS program, you really don't need anything else to run it other than DOS 5.0 or above (I think). ffzdx-a1.zip \ ffzdx-a2.zip > To run these 3 you have to have req-mfc1.zip extracted to ffzdx-a3.zip / C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM (or the equivalent directory) ffzdx-a4.zip - To run this one you have to have req-mfc2.zip extracted to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM (or the equivalent directory) ** REMEMBER TO EXTRACT THESE WITH DIRECTORY STRUCTURE! ** ALL THE FILES ARE NOT IN ONE DIRECTORY The directory tree should look like C:\FFZ C:\FFZ\BMP C:\FFZ\MAP C:\FFZ\TILES You must also have DirectX 5 installed on your system AND hardware accellearation on your video card turned OFF or it will most likely crash the computer. To do this go to START -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL and then double click on the DISPLAY icon. Choose the SETTINGS tab and click on the ADVANCED PROPERTIES button. then click on the PERFORMANCE tab and slide the HARDWARE ACCELLERATION bar all the way to the left. Press OK a few times to get out and it should ask you to restart your computer. You MUST restart your computer for the settings to take effect. The files that are named ffzdx-a*-source.zip are the source code files. Please do NOT distribute, change, or modify in ANY way, shape, or form. If you do, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. :) Anyways, I think that's enough babbling on for one README.TXT file.
